Requirements for entry to the Course

You do not need to have studied the subject at G.C.S.E. level.

Advanced Subsidiary

Unit 1 The Travel and Tourism Industry – You will gain an understanding of the Travel and Tourism industry.  This will include the organisations involved, products and services provided, the significance of the industry to the UK economy and employment opportunities.
Unit 2 The Travel and Tourism Customer – You will find out why excellent customer service is so important in Travel and Tourism.  It offers you an opportunity to provide service to customers in a variety of situations with different types of customers, and investigate the effectiveness of customer service in Travel and Tourism organisations.
Unit 3 Destination Europe – You will research the major continental European destinations for UK tourists – studying location and key features – and the attraction of these destinations for different tourist groups.

 

Advanced G.C.E.

Unit 4 Responsible Tourism – You will explore the impact that tourism development has on the industry, the organisations that are involved and how this can be managed effectively.
Unit 5 Current Issues in Travel and Tourism – In this unit you will carry out and present a research project on a travel and tourism related issue.  This will be an opportunity to work in an area where you have a particular interest and enjoy studying.
Unit 6 Working in Travel and Tourism – One of the attractions of the travel and tourism industry for many people is the variety of employment opportunities that it offers.  With this unit you will look at the nature and range of those employment opportunities and the skills required for a successful career within travel and tourism.

What courses or employment can I progress to at the end of my course? Students with qualification in Travel & Tourism have access to a wide range of career and higher education opportunities. This sector of industry is the fastest growing in the world. You learn and use a variety of transferable skills throughout the course. These include collecting, analysing and interpreting data, communicating your findings in different ways, and identifying and developing the links between different parts of the subject.
